Autoresponder & Shared Aweber Campaign Tips
Read this Aweber Support text chat before you watch the next video at the bottom. Julie had a chat with Lisa Braun from AWeber Live Support about Blog Broadcasts.
Julie: Questions about Blog Broadcasts
You are now speaking with Lisa Braun of Customer Service.
Lisa Braun: Julie, Welcome to Live Support.
Julie: Im looking at this instruction page http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/337/
Julie: HI Lisa
Lisa Braun: What is your question?
Julie: When I get to the bottom of the instructions… it only says to choose a template… then save when done. Yet…when I setup sfsblog (look at it on my accnt: Assurance) …if you open up the feed … you will see all this… in the text and html message box:
{!rss_channel_title}
{!rss_channel_description}
{!rss_channel_link}
{!rss_itemblock}
{!rss_item_title} – {!rss_item_date}
{!rss_item_description}
Read more: {!rss_item_link}
{!rss_itemblockend}
Lisa Braun: Yes.
Julie: thats the text message … above.. and html message box has this:
{!rss_channel_title}
{!rss_channel_link}
{!rss_channel_description}
1. {!rss_itemblock} {!rss_item_title} – {!rss_item_date}
{!rss_item_description}
{!rss_itemblockend}
{!contact_address}
Julie: I remember getting instructions to add that… but am not finding those instructions now…
Julie: Now that I’m setting this new rss to a different blog up… I do not see any instructions about that.
Lisa Braun: Was it here?: http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/183/
Lisa Braun: You basically just need to load a template.
This will automatically plug the correct fields into your message.
Julie: same page as the one Im looking at:http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/183/How+Do+I+Create+a+Blog+Broadcast%3F
Julie: I see something that perhaps answers it…that 183 says
Julie: Select a template for your broadcasts from the list. These templates include pre-formatted personalization tags you or a qualified web designer can modify.
Julie: If I just choose a template will these tags already be there?
Lisa Braun: Yes.
Julie: the only way I can see to choose a template… is… do I click on the green “Load Template” button?
Lisa Braun: That is correct.
Julie: ok
Julie: Thanks . … Now how do I make sure its working? and see what it looks like when I do post?
Lisa Braun: If you leave auto-send unchecked, the blog posts will go to your pending broadcast messages, where you can edit and test the message like a regular broadcast.
Julie: But will testing that broadcast look just like what a lead sees?
Lisa Braun: Yes.
Julie: would it be better to join the list as a test lead – make a post and see what it looks like?
Julie: I have another question too… when I edit a post on my blog, and then save it… do my leads get it again?
Lisa Braun: Not if the URL doesn’t change.
Julie: the post url you mean?
Lisa Braun: Yes.
Julie: Great! I know the blog post url does not change when you edit a post…. thats good to know.
Julie: So I wont be able to test the Blog Broadcast until I do a new post huh?
Lisa Braun: It will actually put all current posts in your pending broadcasts.
Julie: Hmmm … I dont see any pending broadcasts… and I have many posts in there.
Julie: Could I have used the wrong rss url?
Julie: I got it from your Knowledge base instructions:
http://sfsmoderators.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
Lisa Braun: It will check your blog within the hour.
Julie: Oh ok….there is a delay a bit then?
Julie: I followed this to get the rss : http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/337/
Lisa Braun: That should be the correct feed URL.
Julie: Thanks
Lisa Braun: You’re welcome, Julie.
Julie: I noticed I can get a similar feed url by clicking the …
Julie: let me try again…. this is at the bottom of blogger blog… Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)
Julie: a link…and if you right click and get properties you can get the url…. would that work too?
Julie: http://sfsmoderators.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
Lisa Braun: What exactly are you trying to do?
Julie: To get the rss url… of your blogger blog… would that work too? I see its missing a few characters at the end compared to the one from viewing Source code and searching for rss and the url in the href just after that
http://sfsmoderators.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
Julie: ?alt=rss is missing the “properties” way on the Subscribe to Atom link at the bottom of blogger blogs
Julie: missing form the url you get. Would it work just as well… is my question?
Lisa Braun: From http://incomeassurance.com/blog/, the RSS feed URL should be http://incomeassurance.com/blog/?feed=rss2
Julie: That one I thought was setup… its a Wordpress blog… I’m setting up a blogger blog now. http://sfsmoderators.blogspot.com
Julie: No broadcasts messages yet…so would that work for getting a blogger rss feed or not?
Lisa Braun: Yes, this will be checked within the hour.
Lisa Braun: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Julie: To get the rss url… of your blogger blog… would that work too? I see its missing a few characters at the edn compared to the one from viewing Source code and searching for rss and the url in the href just after that
Julie: The list I’m working on now is called modertor
Today we have a chat Julie had with Lisa Braun from AWeber live support about RSS blog broadcasts.
Lisa Braun: Yes, it should work.
Julie: Even though its missing the ending …?
Julie: ?alt=rss http://sfsmoderators.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rssLisa Braun: Yes. They should both post the blog correctly.
Julie: ok thanks, thats all for now then
Lisa Braun: You’re welcome, Julie.
Lisa Braun: Thank you for using our Live Support.
Julie made a video showing you how to do it:
