List Building – BEST is not always Bigger, Better Faster …
A few days ago I received an email that made me smile. How often have you received a similar email, and how often did you even believe it.
“The subject line read: LIST-BUILDING SOFTWARE!!
This was contained in the email:
One of the top online marketers, has done something that
has NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE! He just released
the exact same software that he, himself, has used to
BUILD A LIST OF OVER 100,000 SUBSCRIBERS!”
Anyone can build a LARGE LIST, but it is not everyone who can say that they have built a LARGE TARGETED AND RESPONSIVE LIST OF SUBSCRIBERS!!
Personally I would rather have a smaller list of subscribers, but have the knowledge that they trust me because they have come to know me. Building a large list fast, only means one thing – they cannot possibly know you so how can they trust you. When I build a list, I build a relationship with my subscribers through interacting with them on a personal level, mostly through Social Networking sites and Skype. I do, however also have subscribers who joined my list through advertisements. These leads are the ones I invite to join me on Skype or in Skype Rooms so that we can get to know one another. You may offer them a gift or bonus if they join your list, but that alone will not keep them on your list, or guarantee that they will buy from you instead of the next guy.
Consider this scenario…
You have a friend who sells cooling equipment. Jack Frost, whom you don’t know, also sells cooling equipment. If you need cooling equipment, who are you more likely to purchase from? I would rather buy from a friend because I trust that this friend will not take any chances by telling lies about the product that I want to buy. I trust that he will value our friendship and be truthful about the product.
The lesson in this is that BIGGER is not always BETTER.
