Saturday March 01 – Using audio to build a list

The Internet is changing daily, and because of that, so is list building. Gone are the days of sending out thousands of ordinary old emails to try and get people to join your list. These are not nearly as effective as they used to be.

As we have been learning in the past few months, the relationship you have with the people on your list, is most important if you want them to be responsive, and what better way to build a relationship than by voice.

There are several ways you could implement using your own voice instead of an email to catch people’s attention.

  • You can record an email message – we use BYOaudio – and put the link to the audio in an email. This enables them to listen to your message instead of reading it. You have a better chance of explaining what you want them to know, and that means they could be more eager to join your list. Many people find it easier to understand something they hear than the written word. It is so easy to miss a portion of the information when reading an email message, and completely misunderstanding it.
  • Another method to get your message heard is with a podcast. This is especially good, as it can be downloaded onto an MP3, and listened to offline. Many people will listen to this while they are driving to their offices or even doing laundry or other chores. You can send this link by email as well – use a broadcast message from AWeber to reach your current subscribers when you want to give them new information.
  • When you are talking directly to people instead of sending an email, which they may not read immediately, and later forget all about, you have the opportunity to answer their questions immediately. A Hot Conference room is a great way of getting either a group of people together for getting your message accross or for a one-on-one consultion with an individual.
  • A Skype voice room is another ideal way for people to interact. You can tell them all about the advantages of getting subscibed to your list. Once again, they will have the opportunity to ask questions, and it could mean the difference between joining your list or not.
  • So, what am I really telling you – Voice is better in most instances.

Try using voice instead of ordinary email to get people to join your list as well as keeping in touch with them. You have to stay in touch to keep them interested, and what better way than sending them a link to a voice message. In this age of multi-tasking, many people find it easier to listen than to read, so find your voice and use it.
