 Marketing with Squidoo
We often get the question – “Please tell me how to do Marketing online”
I’d like to share some tips on how to get the best out of Squidoo. Just today I read about someone who made $1000 in 30 days on Squidoo. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and I haven’t made $1000 in 30 days, but I can show you the basics…
First things first…..I believe that before you market your product, you should market yourself ~ get yourself known on the internet ~ and the best way to do this is to be everywhere. Social Networking is an absolute gem to get your name out there. Some people call Squidoo a Social Networking Site, others call it Web 2.0, but whatever category it falls in, it gets you into contact with many people for FREE. Since it was started a few years ago, many people have used Squidoo to help their Internet Marketing.
Once you have signed up for Squidoo, you can start creating your lenses. A lens is like a mini Blog or an article that you post on a site with a lot of FREE traffic. There is no limit to the number of lenses you do, but there are a few rules of thumb that you should always remember.
To create a great looking Lens, you should try and use basic HTML.. if you don’t know HTML, go here for some tips. You do get some tips from Squidoo too, but there are some lenses that will guide you into changing the look of your lens to make it unique and good looking. You can create a lens in a few minutes, or you can spend a long time on it. If you take a bit of trouble making it really good with interesting and original content, and also looking great, you could get a higher ranking in Squidoo and even on Google and other search engines, and have more people reading your lens
You can create a lens on any topic but always be careful to put good content on each lens. Try and make the content as original as possible to avoid it being considered SPAM – you could get kicked off Squidoo for that.
To optimize your visibility by the Search Engine Spiders, always try and include good relevant Keywords and Key Phrases in your title and in the content of the lens. Here is a good free program to help you search for popular Keywords and Phrases.
Another clever way of possibly getting people to read your lens, is to search for lenses with similar or complimentary to your own content, and write comments and rank their lenses. Most of them will in turn go to your lens and do the same for you. This pushes your rankings up in Squidoo, and the higher your ranking, the more visible you become.
It is advisable to update your lens regularly – about once a week. You shouldn’t change it too much, but a few minor edits always keeps your lens content fresh.
Remember having a few lenses on Squidoo is a good way to market yourself as well as any product or service you want to promote, and don’t we all need more marketing opportunities.
