How to Build a DataBase of 50 Thousand Skype User Profiles a Night with Message Magic

Step by Step

Where to start?  A few Message Magic Tips I want to share with you to help you get started right away building a huge database of Skype users with full profile data to search through before adding  them as contacts for better targeting.  Try running Message Magic for 12 hours over night and adding ~50+K Skype user’s Profiles to a database in your computer. Here is the step by step on building a database of 2 Million+ Skype User Profiles here. This may still be  missing one step: Save before Dup ing. That is important. The 100 patterns (skype names) Message Magic gives you only once a day.

 

Getting and Preserving Your Skype 3.8  and STILL Using Your Newer Skype Versions

After installing Skype 3.8, make a copy of the Skype folder in your Program Files. Right click copy > Paste in empty area of your Program files. Rename the copy to add the version number. Like this Skype3.8 – copy. Make desktop shortcuts for all Skype versions you use, example, Skype3.8, Skype5.5, etc.  Be sure you use the application file with the Skype logo, inside your Phone folder inside your Skype folder with that version. Trouble  Installing Skype3.8 to Run Message Magic On?

 

Many people are getting an error when installing Skype 3.8, saying you already have a more current version and simply failing. So, before you uninstall Skype which will fix this and allow your 3.8  to install without error, please, first back up your contacts to a file and also back up your history. These are easier to do with Message Magic. And a good idea to do anyway.

How to Backup Skype Contacts and History Using Message Magic

1. Skype Contacts Back up : From Message Magic (ok to do in your Skype 4 or Skype 5) go to menus  Activities>Retrieve Users>Load From Contacts> All Contacts (top). Then after they are loaded do this. Activities> User Actions > Save to csv file. Done!
2. Skype Chat History Backup or Save History:  From Message Magic (ok to do in your Skype 4 or Skype 5) go to menus Tools > Advanced > Save Chat History. To save more then the 10000, go to Settings>System configuration > Chat History to Save and increase the number. This may take some time. Let it run as long as needed ad take a break or do this overnight first. This is totally worth the wait. You will be able to search your whole Skype history for keywords and load people who used them into Message Magic. If you can not see the power in that, then DO ask me at the next training. Q: Do you think it is important to back up Skype contacts and History before uninstalling Skype? And do you see uninstalling as the solution to 3.8 not installing due to the error about already having a more current version? Your thought Grant?

A: Grant Andrews – MM Owner: I always encourage people to do a backup of both, using Message Magic because even though Skype provides a way to backup contacts it does not backup categories. Your contacts, as you no doubt know, are stored on the Skype server and for whatever reason those have been known to get corrupted.  —- In regards to history, absolutely! It is FULL of keywords and if someone is dumb enough to lose their Skype account, if they haven’t backed up their history then…

How To Save the Skype Profiles From a 12 Hour Message Magic Search?

What You Do Once Message Magic Has Searched and Loaded 50 Thousand Skype Users After 12 Hours? When you are done with the 2 Million Profile pdf steps (link to steps above in first paragraph, btw),… then you will have selected a smaller number (maybe 100s or a few thousand) of the ~50,000 skype user profiles and will likely have these questions…

1. Q: What do I do to save these profiles? A: Nothing. You can close your Message Magic without losing them. They are already saved in .csv files in your AppData/~mmtemp file and in a database file mm.mdb. Load them anytime later and try the last step in the above pdf – Keywords Search the Profiles. Or choose the Selections to drill down to a more targeted group of potential skype contacts. Dont add them all at once.  Build a targeted Skype contact list for your business.
2. Q: What do I do with selected? A: Anything in the Activities > User Actions menu are all done on selected (except Save Profiles from Last Search, which is not needed, its already saved – see 1 above). You could Add to Contacts, Add to Category, Save as Csv file or even Upload from a Team Member… for a few examples. Idea: Give Skype “leads” to your team – this is how they collect them from their Message Magic!

Be Sure To Do 2 Things in Message Magic Before Adding to Contacts!

1. Check Auto Translate  to translate into their language and
2. Add a custom “add friend message” to the Message Box. Keep it friendly, short, non-salesy, no links. Ask for help crafting your messages, I love being creative with you on these. Maybe we can keep message samples in our guidelines in our Team Skype Rooms. Skype Rooms for your Team are great for collaborating on what is working. Idea! Ever thought of split testing Skype messages to see what works best? Heck, we get so many thousands a day, we could test 2 messages with 2 groups of a thousand or even 10 thousand!

How do I Save Selected with Message Magic?

Once you have your 50 thousand Skype users, and you continue the steps in the “2 Million_ Profiles” pdf steps (link at the top here or look in Resources at the Message Magic site - Hit Login then the Resource Button – you don’t even need to login). Once you have completed the selections suggested there, you may wonder, what do I do next? or even …

Q: How do you save the selected?
A: They will be in a new category Message Magic created called zAddedToday. Rename that category before adding another targeted selection, which adds more to this Skype contact category. You can also save to CSV file or add to an existing category you created.  Message Magic menu – Activities > User Actions. Skype Categories is one of my favorite training’s.
