If you like, I can read the post below to you. Just listen to this audio as you scroll down and read :

Last week we gave you the Features and Benefits of WordPress. Today we will discuss Blogger and it’s benefits. It takes only a few minutes to start you blog, and you can have unlimited blogs and blog posts.Your Posts will be saved on your blog whether you published them or not, unless you manually delete them. Although individual posts do not have a specific size limit, very large posts may run you up against the page size limit.Size of Pages: Individual pages (the main page of your blog, or your archive pages) are limited to 1 MB in size. This will allow for a few hundred pages of text, but it may be a problem if you are listing hundreds of posts on the front page of your blog.

Number of Comments: A post can have any number of comments.

Blogger is owned by Google, and they do not allow any kind of commercial content on the blogs. If you want to use your blog for Marketing and Promotions, you need to publish it on your own Domain. It is very easy to publish your Blogger Blog on your own Domain, but we will explain that in a later training. There is a variety of Templates to choose from.

  • You can categorize each post with a Label. (Label Lesson to be published Nov 5th)
  • You may use more than on Label per post.
  • Blogger automatically archives according to these Labels.
  • You can prewiew as you do your post.
  • There is a spell check feature.
  • Your work is saved as you go along, so you will not loose anything if there is a sudden mishap like a power failure.

There are several features to enhance you post without the need to know HTML.

They use a wysiwyg (What you see is what you get) mode where you manipulate text with formatting buttons. Some more features that make your blog stand out…

  • You have different Font choices
  • Change the Font Size
  • Change the font colour
  • Make the Font Bold
  • Change the font to Italic.
  • You can have ordered (numbered ) or unordered (bulet) Lists.
  • You can upload an Image to you blog…a photograph etc.
  • You can change the date and time of your post if you need to change the sequence of the posts on your blog. The posts appear in the order that they were posted, and you may want to change this.

A wonderful feature is the “Quick Edit”. If you are proofreading your post, and you find an error, Quick Edit links take you directly to the post in Blogger, without the long winded process of going to “Edit Post” first and finding the error. As you continue proofreading, and find more mistakes, It is a much quicker process.

If you don’t want your post to be public yet, you can post it as a “Draft”. This will show in your index, but not on the blog yet, until you Publish it. You may choose whether you want your blog to be public, crawled by spiders or private.

The layout of the blog can be changed…Font and Colours, Page elements can be added, HTML can be edited or a new Template can be picked. Something that I really like about Blogger, is that the Dashboard is very neat and organized. Your blogs are listed together, and all your choices of actions you want to take is right there….you can choose to:

  • Create a New Blog
  • create a new post
  • Edit a Post
  • Change settings
  • Change the layout
  • Edit or view your profile
  • Go to your Account
  • Change the Language……. all from the Dashboard.

The Post Index is arranged according to the post date, with the newest ones at the top. Your Labels are also listed on your Post Index.
