Questions about Mac and Skype?
I have seen a few in Skype rooms. So I have opened a new Skype chat room for Mac Skype Tips – its purpose is for sharing knowledge of Skype running on a Mac or Apple computer with some friends. If you have questions or if you have answers (if you have a Mac), and use Skype, join us. I will be grateful if you can add to our knowledge of Skype with both questions and answers. You see, I need to know (as the resident Skype expert,so I am called by some) and as I have a pc, so join me if you have a Mac and are on Skype.
Here are the Skype room Guidelines so far. Please help me to refine them as well as the focus of this chat room.
Skype Tips for Mac Chat Room Guidelines :
- Please help us learn what the Mac Skype user needs to know (ask questions or give answers). PC users as well as Mac users both are welcome! (… another move toward world peace … )
- Chatting Rights Required – Only my Friends on Skype here so to be my friend or to get chatting rights, please connect with me on Skype.
- Add me to your Skype list and please tell me why. You can Skype me something like, “I want to join/get chatting rights in the Skype for Mac room, please add me to your Skype list as well as giving me rights to post in the room – thanks” … or similar. Hot Tip on Adding me (or anyone) to your Skype contact list: while requesting I add you as a Skype contact , DO write a message in the Add contact box where it asks you to say hi, but thats not all…. Please, also be sure to open a text chat and add your message there as well. Having this reference in the top or beginning of our Skype chat history, is very useful to both partys.
- Optionally, grab my Skype Tips here. This is where I write a few fun Skype tips, send you Skype Tip updates on my blog, and also where I will update my members of new Skype rooms, Skype tips reports & ebooks, video tutorials, You Tube videos and tips and news of Skype in general. The first email, after you confirm where to deliver to you, includes an option to downgrade Skype to 3.8 (read why you may want to leave 4x behind and return to 3.8 here, of course, Mac users are forced to be on version 2x (at time of writting)….. well just in case you are a pc (grin) like me.

How? How do you get posting or chatting rights? First of all, ask me on Skype. Simply read and agree to the above Room Guidelines then Skype me with the url to this blog post and tell me that you have read and will follow the room culture / guidelines and have added me as a Skype contact. To keep the quality of the chat on topic and spam-free:
1) I am inviting my Skype for Mac Chat room hosts ( Hyla and Xarah ) … to comment here and name that they are hosts with their Skype ids if they choose. Let me know if we get any false claims so I can delete those comments.
2) Permissions are set to Read Only upon entry so we can moderate. To get chatting rights, please privately Skype me (pm = private message) and you will have to add me as a Skype contact in order to do that. So …
3) My Skype id is : juliewolf … please follow instructions/room guidelines in the above post if you want to add me as a Skype contact or want chatting rights for this new Skype chat room. If you do not explain in a IM Skype to me why you want me to add you or why you are adding me as a Skype contact I will not add you. (IM means text not voice).
Those on Read Only for too long with no chatting rights (aka posting rights), will be removed from the room until they have added me and asked me on Skype to be added to the room.
