Q: I’ve got someone who is trying to join my new Skype group, but having an issue. They cannot get in.
A: Try adding them to the room yourself, but also remind them to bookmark the room by clicking on the bookmark at the top. If they join the room, it is automatically bookmarked, but if you add them, it is not bookmarked.

Q: Can you have rooms open but limit those that can access it to members of your list or program team?
A: You can ask people you don’t want to participate to leave. You can also eject and ban them if they don’t leave on their own. Once you have banned them, they cannot get back into that room unless you add them. You can also set your “Public chat Settings” in your options at the top of the room so that anyone has to be approved before they can read or post in the room.

Q: So the room has to be open to all but you can refuse to allow some to remain?
A: You can give the link only to those you want to have it. That could limit the unwanted visitors. You can also set your room so that you must approve before they can post in your room. This way you can control who posts in there. You can also remove any post that you don’t want in there. If you don’t want the visitor to stay in the room at all for some reason, you can ask them to leave by clicking on the “leave” button, and if they don’t leave, you can eject and ban them. If you do this, they will not be able to join again, unless you or a host adds them.

Q: I have opened a room for my group and have set it that I need to approve anyone posting. Can I set it so others can approve members posting too?
A: All hosts will also be able to approve visitors posts.

Q: Is there a limit of how many host there can be in a room?
A: No, there is no limit. You can promote as many people as you want to.

Q: I seem to have lost my own room by closing it on skype. Does that mean that I cannot close the room at all.
A: No, You must have accidentally clicked on the green “Leave” button (The one showing a little person walking towards a door) instead of the X which you normally use to close any application. Shutting down the computer will not have you lose the room.

Q: How do I make a member a host!
A: Right click on the person’s name that you want to promote to host, and look for “promote to host”, then click on that.

Q: How to edit my Skype Mood bubble?
A: From your main skype window click on your name at the top which will open your bubble and then you can type in there a bit of text and your site url.
If you want a link to show in your Skype Mood, be aware of the character limit (looks like 54) so that your link (url) is visable.

A: No, it will not pop up unless someone leaves a message

Q: What must I do to show as Skype Room creator at the top of a room that I created..
A: When you create the room it shows that you are creator as long as it is a Public Chat not a Group Chat. Look at the bottom right hand corner where your picture appears. Next to your name you will see “Creator”. In other people’s computers you will always be listed at the top of the contacts as creator, and any hosts will follow just below your name. and marked as “Host”.

Q: What is the WordPress visual editor?
A: When you login to your dashboard in Wordpress, and write a post or page, you do this in the editor. If you have it set to “Visual” then what you type and how it looks is what you get. This is called What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get or a WYSIWYG editor is what people call it. You can change the color of the text, add images, links (adding the option to have links open in a new window and the title tags). It makes editing and adding code a little easier for those who don’t know HTML code. If you don’t see it, you can activate it by going to your dashboard, then users tab, then your profile, there is a check box in the top left corner – check this to turn it on.

Q: I want to make a backup of my contacts in Skype, how can I do that
A: Go to your Main skype window, click on tools, mouse over “advanced” then click on “Back up contacts to file”

Q: My public chat Skype room is set to need permission to post. Can someone visiting the room, reading the purpose of the room and liking what they read, post an introductory message asking to be allowed to ask a question?
A: No…. They can only post when you give them permission to do so. You could allow them to post an introduction after turning their chat permission on, then turn it off again if you choose. I suggest adding a statement in your Skype Room Guidelines to private Skype you to request permission to post; or read and post if you set your room to require permission for both.
You can also have this Permission Setting Off, allowing every one to post, then set any individual you choose to be “Read Only”.

Q: How can I save the history of a room.
A: Select the “Beginning” link right the top and select all
copy to a word or notepad file. A Word document will preserve the hypertext.
