Monday March 31 – Editors on blogs.
When you do a post on your blog, you use an editor. That is the text box you type your message in.
You always have two options…
- The “Visual” editor called WYSIWYG (This means “what -you-see-is-what-you-get”) In other words when you use this editor, you see exactly what your post will look like. In this editor you can change the color of the text, add images by clicking on a picture icon, add links, change the format of your post, add bullets etc. In other words, you can see whatever you did in the post while still making the post. You can read the text as you are typing it, unlike int the HTML editor, where all your commands are in code.
- The other option is the HTML code editor. To use this editor, you need to know HTML.
In WordPress the “Visual” tab is for the WYSIWYG editor, and “Code” for the HTML editor.
In Blogger the “Compose” tab is the WYSIWYG editor, and the “Edit Html” is the HTML editor.
When you log in to your blog editor to write a post, you will normally have the WYSIWYG editor as the default editor.
If you don’t see it in WordPress, go to your dashboard, click on “Users” tab, then Your Profile. There in the top left just below “personal options” you will see a check box – “Use the visual editor when writing” - check this to turn on the visual editor and click on “Update Profile”
In Blogger you go to Settings. You need to be on “Basic” in settings. Scroll down until you get to Global Settings. below the orange line there is the question “Show Compose mode for all your blogs”. Choose “Yes”, then click the orange button “Save Settings”
